FAQ
How this works, and what it will not do
Eight questions about the research method, the three state packs, and the records you keep.
Reference only, not legal advice. Requirements change; verify with your state’s education agency before you file. This page describes what the linked official sources say as of the verification date, and nothing here is a determination that a program is compliant.
Is this legal advice?
No. Homeschool Pack is a reference. It describes what official state pages and statutes say as of a recorded date, links each source, and deliberately does not tell you that a program is compliant. For a decision about your family, verify with your state education agency or a lawyer in your state.
How is each requirement verified?
Only official sources are used: the state education agency, the state code or statute site, and guides published by the state. Each section lists the sources it depends on, and every source entry shows the date it was fetched. If a rule could not be confirmed, it appears under “Not verified here” rather than being presented as fact.
Which states are covered, and will you add mine?
Version 1 covers Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. Each state has a different shape of law, so packs are added one at a time rather than generated in bulk. There is no date promised for the next state.
Does Texas require me to notify anyone that I am homeschooling?
Not the state. The Texas Education Agency states that it does not regulate, register, approve or monitor home schools, and its FAQ says you do not need to call TEA to announce your intent. The practical steps are withdrawing from the school where your child is enrolled and keeping a course of study that includes good citizenship.
We are moving to Virginia after the school year starts. What is the deadline?
Notify the division superintendent as soon as practicable after you move, then complete the other requirements within 30 days of that notice. The annual notice deadline for families already in the division is August 15, and evidence of progress for the year is due August 1.
Who can evaluate a Pennsylvania portfolio?
A licensed clinical psychologist, a school psychologist, a Pennsylvania-certified teacher with two years of grading experience at the level being evaluated, a nonpublic school teacher or administrator with two years of Pennsylvania teaching experience in the last ten years at that level, or another person approved in advance by the district superintendent. The supervisor and the supervisor’s spouse cannot evaluate their own program.
Where are my checklist ticks stored?
In this browser, using localStorage. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. Clearing site data or switching browsers removes the ticks, so print the pack if you want a permanent copy.
A rule changed or a link is dead. How do I report it?
Email contact@wheelchairrampcalculator.com with the state, the URL you checked, and the date. Corrections are re-checked against the official page and the pack’s verification and updated dates are changed only when the source has actually been re-read.
Still stuck?
The fastest route is your state agency or local district office — they can confirm the form they want and the date they will accept it. If the problem is on this site, use thecontact page.
